Taiwan Church Planters

October Prayer Update

January 2, 2018

I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me. I do not nullify the grace of God, for if righteousness were through the law, then Christ died for no purpose. (Galatians 2:20-21)

1st Pre-Launch Service at Grace Church

On October 21, 2012 I was ordained as an Evangelist to Taiwan in Costa Mesa, CA. God has been teaching me so much over these past five years, and yet there is still so much to learn about Him. I thank God that His Word and Spirit have guided our family throughout our time in Taiwan; encouraging us during times of discouragement and reminding us of His faithfulness throughout the years. Although we love our Church family in Taiwan, we also miss you all and are looking forward to visiting home soon — hopefully early next year. As we finalize our plans, I will keep everyone posted on when we will be in Southern California and in the D.C. area.

Grace Church officially launched on October 22nd, and Michael Liu preached a sermon on God’s covenant faithfulness from Genesis 15. This past Sunday I preached on 1 Peter 5:1-7, a reminder to always be humble under God’s mighty hand, and to shepherd the flock of God with care and eagerness. At Grace, we celebrate the Lord’s Supper every week, a weekly sign and seal of God’s one-way love and care for His beloved sheep. We also have a fellowship meal together every week after the Worship Service, followed by a Prayer Meeting. We rejoice that we often have new visitors and we hope more and more people from our community can worship with us and receive God’s Word and enjoy the fellowship we have in Christ Jesus.

We also praise God that three covenant children and one adult will be baptized at Grace Church on November 12th, including our 2nd daughter Madelyn Hope Pilson. Please pray that God would use this service to be a powerful witness to God’s steadfast love and commitment to His promises, especially for the non-Christian friends and family members who will be attending.

Prayer Points:

1. Please pray for our Saturday morning and afternoon English outreach. In the morning I am leading a conversation class and in the afternoon Rachel is leading English story time. Pray that God would use these activities as opportunities to meet new people in our community and to engage them with the reality of Jesus.

2. Please pray for our upcoming Thanksgiving Outreach on Friday, November 24th. We want to host a large turkey dinner at Grace Church with a time for sharing about the meaning and background of Thanksgiving.

3. Please continue to pray for our Sunday Services, especially how to best minister to parents and their young children. Our meeting location is not very spacious, so we need wisdom to know how to best encourage parents to train their children to participate in the worship service. We have just started a new  training program to help the children learn about the elements of the worship service and to help train them to be able to sit through the entire service. There are many young families in Sanxia and so this ministry is a very crucial part of our ability to plant a Church where both parents and children are being challenged and fed by the Word of God.

For Christ and His Church,

Eric & Annie
