May Prayer Update

May 18, 2017

Make me to know your ways, O LORD; teach me your paths. Lead me in your truth and teach me, for you are the God of my salvation; for you I wait all the day long. Remember your mercy, O LORD, and your steadfast love, for they have been from of old.  (Psalm 25:4-6)

Eric with new friends at Taipei University

Thank you all for your continued prayers and enduring support for the work that God has called us to in Taiwan. We thank God for how He continues to lead and guide our plans to plant a new Gospel-centered, Presbyterian Church here in New Taipei City, for the growing unity and heightened sense of calling among our core group, and for the myriad opportunities we have had to proclaim the excellencies of our God to those who have never heard.

We want to thank you for your prayers this past month regarding our earnest desire to raise up a local prayer and support team for the Sanxia Church Plant. My co-worker Michael and I have been visiting different Churches and sharing our vision for establishing a new Reformed Church in Sanxia Beida District. Please continue to pray for more opportunities to share our vision and for God to raise up a team of prayer warriors and supporters who can back our Church plant while it is still in the early stages of being planted.

Thank you also for praying for our Christianity Explored course which we called “Brunch and Bibles.” The 7-week course began in late March and has been going well, with several non-Christians faithfully attending Brunch at Michael’s apartment followed by a discussion of Mark’s Gospel from Pastor Rico Tice. We have one last session coming up this Saturday when we will be talking about the meaning of repentance and the cost of following Jesus. On this note, please keep praying for those who have attended and have begun to embrace the Gospel but are facing pressure from non-Christian family members.

Additional Prayer Points:

1. Please pray for us as we make more and more contacts in our community, that those we meet and interact with would see their need for God and that our friendships with them would flourish, providing more opportunities for the Gospel to go forth. We want to serve the needs of Sanxia, displaying the love of Christ, while at the same time being bold in our witness to the truth. Please pray that we would do both of these things well, with a zeal for God’s glory and the building up of His Kingdom.

2. Please continue to pray for us to find an affordable location to rent in Sanxia where we can host outreach events, parenting classes, English lessons, prayer meetings, and Sunday Worship.

3. Please pray for God to provide for our Church plant a gifted and Godly musician who can help lead our musical accompaniment and hopefully also assist with updating some of the older Taiwanese hymns to more easily sung tunes. In Taiwan, like almost all places, hearing and singing God’s Word through psalms and hymns and spiritual songs can be a powerful witness and tremendous encouragement to the soul.

In Christ our King,
The Pilsons
